60 seconds of nothingness.

They were at the two ends of pedestrian crossing. Waiting for the signal to turn green. It was as if the flow of life had come to a standstill, even though, it was for a while. A deliberate pause to the vital motion of human movement. Like music paused on a player. The green signal would undo the pause. A split second saw them looking in to each other’s eye. As the green light came on, the heavy deluge of human bodies moved from both the ends of the crossing. When they crossed each other there was no recognition but just awareness that they had shared 60 seconds of nothingness.
